La Montaña Mi Hogar Collective Raises Awareness for Destructive Mining in Colombia

MEDELLIN, Colombia, Aug. 6, 2019 /PRNewswire/ — One of Colombia’s most beautiful and ecologically diverse regions is being threatened by the multinational mining conglomerate AngloGold Ashanti. Their plan is to mine the heart of the mountain for 23 years, leaving behind 119 million tailings that would forever occupy 174 hectares of wild nature and farmland, as well as contaminating the Cauca River, the second most important one in the country.
